Description:

  • The role is for a Senior Software Engineer (Back-end) at Seccl, a B-Corp certified embedded investment platform owned by Octopus.
  • This is a hybrid position based in London, Bath, or Edinburgh.
  • The primary responsibility is to design, build, and operate reliable and scalable software solutions using Typescript and Node.js.
  • The engineer will work collaboratively in a cross-functional squad and be accountable for the SLAs of their products.
  • Daily tasks include maintaining documentation, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and providing mentorship to junior engineers.
  • The role requires a hands-on approach throughout the development process and effective communication with non-technical colleagues.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must own their services from design to operation, operating in a build-and-run model with full accountability.
  • A strong ability to understand business requirements and translate them into efficient, scalable solutions is essential.
  • Experience in a strongly/statically typed language is required.
  • Candidates should have a strong understanding of designing, building, and running high-quality, standards-compliant workflow APIs.
  • Experience with a cloud provider (AWS/Azure/GCP) and distributed systems is necessary.
  • Willingness to be on-call for services is required.
  • Nice to have skills include experience with Node.js, AWS, serverless products, MongoDB, mentoring, and working in regulated industries.
