Description:
The role is for a Senior Software Engineer (Back-end) at Seccl, a B-Corp certified embedded investment platform owned by Octopus.
This is a hybrid position based in London, Bath, or Edinburgh.
The primary responsibility is to design, build, and operate reliable and scalable software solutions using Typescript and Node.js.
The engineer will work collaboratively in a cross-functional squad and be accountable for the SLAs of their products.
Daily tasks include maintaining documentation, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and providing mentorship to junior engineers.
The role requires a hands-on approach throughout the development process and effective communication with non-technical colleagues.
Requirements:
Candidates must own their services from design to operation, operating in a build-and-run model with full accountability.
A strong ability to understand business requirements and translate them into efficient, scalable solutions is essential.
Experience in a strongly/statically typed language is required.
Candidates should have a strong understanding of designing, building, and running high-quality, standards-compliant workflow APIs.
Experience with a cloud provider (AWS/Azure/GCP) and distributed systems is necessary.
Willingness to be on-call for services is required.
Nice to have skills include experience with Node.js, AWS, serverless products, MongoDB, mentoring, and working in regulated industries.
Benefits:
The salary ranges from £75,000 to £90,000, depending on experience, with annual reviews.
