Camunda is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Backend - Data Layer team, where your work will have a significant impact on transforming organizations.
The Data Layer team is responsible for designing, maintaining, and optimizing the data systems of the Core application, focusing on building robust and scalable solutions in a data-intensive environment.
You will own the data layer, developing features related to data storage, monitoring, and improving performance, while collaborating with other teams to support application development.
Technologies used include Java, Relational Databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, MariaDB), Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, Spring Boot, Spring, Maven, Docker, and Helm.
The team consists of 4 Backend Engineers and collaborates closely with QA, Product Management, and other teams.
Responsibilities include designing and delivering new features, monitoring database performance, collaborating with stakeholders, providing 3rd-level support, and performing technical spikes.
Requirements:
A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Java Backend Engineer is required.
Excellent knowledge and experience with Java and at least one of the following databases: Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MariaDB.
Practical experience with Spring, Spring Boot, Maven, and Docker is necessary.
A pragmatic and autonomous approach to programming and problem-solving is essential.
Candidates should have the ambition to understand and evolve an established codebase and data model.
A collaborative mindset is important for solving complex technical problems.
Passion for coaching other engineers and improving team practices is desired.
Candidates must thrive in taking ownership of the codebase and be comfortable with the "you build it, you run it" mindset.
Ability and/or willingness to use Camunda's product is required.
Nice-to-haves include experience with both RDBMS and Elasticsearch, and knowledge of building and maintaining CI pipelines.
