This position is for a Senior Software Engineer – Core Database CI Infrastructure at ClickHouse, located in the United States.
The role involves contributing to the CI infrastructure of one of the fastest open-source OLAP databases, focusing on high performance, scalability, and reliability of distributed systems.
Responsibilities include writing and maintaining performance tests, debugging complex system-level issues, and collaborating with a global, remote-first team.
The engineer will work on projects that have a direct impact on customers and the developer community.
Key accountabilities include collaborating with Core Engineering teams, designing performance tests, analyzing and optimizing critical components, supporting engineering and support teams, engaging with the open-source community, participating in an on-call rotation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 5+ years of professional software development experience, with deep expertise in C++ and Linux/Unix environments.
A strong background in systems programming, performance engineering, and optimizing distributed systems is required.
Proven understanding of database internals or experience in high-performance computing domains is necessary.
Experience with debugging and profiling tools in production environments is essential.
The ability to work autonomously in a distributed team setting and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders is required.
Open-source contribution experience and a collaborative mindset in peer reviews and community engagement are important.
A passion for efficiency, scalability, reliability, and clean code practices is expected.
Bonus qualifications include experience with ClickHouse, Kubernetes, network programming (TCP/IP), cloud infrastructure, and public technical speaking or blogging.
