Remote Senior Software Engineer - Desktop Platform

Description:

• Discord is a platform used by over 200 million people monthly, primarily for gaming.
• The company is seeking a Senior Engineer for the Desktop Platform team to lead the technical vision for Discord's client experience across Windows, macOS, and Linux.
• The role involves reporting to the Engineering Manager, Desktop Platform, and shaping the technical foundation for Discord's user experience.
• Responsibilities include building and maintaining foundational components for Discord’s desktop clients, interfacing with macOS/Windows operating system APIs, driving engineering quality for desktop client performance, troubleshooting complex issues, and supporting internal developers with desktop build environment and tooling.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have 5+ years of experience as a software engineer working on large, cross-platform desktop applications.
• Experience with desktop performance and Electron is required, along with a passion for delivering an incredible product to 200 million users.
• Expertise in either macOS or Windows applications is necessary.
• Strong technical depth with C++ and/or Rust is required.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities with a proven track record of diagnosing and resolving complex performance issues are essential.
• Understanding of observability and monitoring to solve system issues is required.

Benefits:

• The position offers a US base salary range of $196,000 to $220,500, plus equity and benefits.
• The role can be remote, but candidates in the Bay Area have the option to work from the San Francisco office.
