Description:

  • You will work with highly respected Apache Kafka committers and PMC members to shape the next generation of Kafka APIs, Protocols, and Streams.
  • Responsibilities include independently driving the design and execution of complex projects end-to-end.
  • You will contribute to the advancement of the Apache Kafka project and work with customers to understand their requirements.
  • The position requires representing the team in cross-functional design and architecture meetings.
  • You will provide guidance and mentorship to other engineers and collaborate with them to make decisions that benefit Apache Kafka and Confluent.

Requirements:

  • A BS, MS, or PhD in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience is required.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in distributed systems, query, and stream processing is necessary.
  • Strong fundamentals in distributed systems design and development are essential.
  • Experience in building and operating highly scalable and performant systems is required.
  • A solid understanding of basic systems operations, including disk, network, and operating systems, is necessary.
  • The candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to work effectively in teams.
  • Proficiency in Java, Scala, or other statically typed languages is required.
