Remote Senior Software Engineer, Platform (Backend)

Description:

• This position is for a Senior Software Engineer, Platform (Backend) at Cribl, located in the United States.
• The role is remote-first and involves working with a dynamic engineering team focused on building scalable, high-performance systems for processing large-scale data in real time.
• The engineer will shape technical direction, influence platform architecture, and contribute to product and internal tooling.
• Responsibilities include developing, maintaining, and optimizing backend systems and APIs for large-scale data streams.
• The engineer will design and implement scalable distributed systems with robust automated test coverage.
• Collaboration with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers is essential to translate feature specifications into high-quality code.
• Mentoring junior engineers and providing guidance on system design, code quality, and best practices is expected.
• The engineer will take end-to-end ownership of software components and participate in on-call/support rotations.
• Identifying opportunities to improve internal tools, processes, and platform capabilities is part of the role.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have demonstrated experience building backend systems for large-scale, data-intensive applications.
• Strong proficiency with Node.js, TypeScript, or similar technologies is required.
• A solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and scalability principles is necessary.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, as well as Docker and Linux-based environments, is essential.
• Knowledge of networking, performance profiling, and debugging complex systems is required.
• Experience in Agile development and rapid iterative delivery is necessary.
• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field is required.
• Candidates should possess a strong sense of ownership, high-quality deliverables, and the ability to mentor and collaborate effectively.
• Familiarity with open source contributions is considered a plus.
