Remote Senior / Staff Backend Engineer

• The Senior or Staff Backend Engineer will have end-to-end ownership of key parts of the backend services architecture.
• The role involves working on a modern micro-service architecture using Python 3.12, FastAPI, Strawberry GraphQL, and event-driven design principles.
• Responsibilities include building scalable, resilient systems that impact patient care, shaping the technical direction of the platform, and mentoring other engineers.
• The team operates fully remote across the U.S., emphasizing that great engineering can happen anywhere.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have 5+ years of backend development experience in production environments, with strong Python skills, including async programming and type hints.
• A solid understanding of PostgreSQL database design and optimization is required.
• Familiarity with Docker and containerization is necessary.
• Strong testing practices using pytest are expected.
• Experience with microservice architectures is preferred.
• Candidates should have experience with GraphQL APIs and event-driven systems with message queues.
• Experience with major cloud providers, such as AWS, is required.
