The Software Architect will design and lead enterprise-scale Point of Sale (POS) solutions for retail clients, shaping the technical direction of POS platforms.
This role involves acting as a client-facing advisor, providing architectural guidance, mentoring developers, and ensuring alignment with business objectives in omni-channel retail environments.
Key responsibilities include leading architectural design, engaging with clients, designing scalable solutions, creating architectural artifacts, evaluating technologies, collaborating with teams, providing technical leadership, and contributing to best practices.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 8+ years of software development experience, with at least 3 years in an architectural role.
Proven experience in designing and deploying POS systems in enterprise retail environments is required.
A strong understanding of retail business processes, including checkout, returns, pricing, promotions, and customer engagement, is essential.
Hands-on expertise with modern POS platforms such as Oracle MICROS, NCR, Toshiba, GK Software, or custom-built solutions is necessary.
Proficiency in architectural design patterns and modern tech stacks, including backend technologies (Java, .NET, Node.js), frontend technologies (React, TypeScript, Angular), integration methods (REST, GraphQL, SOAP, Kafka, MQ), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is required.
Strong documentation and communication skills are needed to present architecture to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Candidates should be comfortable working in Agile/Scrum environments and collaborating with cross-functional, distributed teams.
Experience with mobile POS (mPOS), self-checkout (SCO), and omnichannel integrations is preferred.
Knowledge of compliance standards relevant to POS systems, such as PCI DSS and GDPR, is important.
Familiarity with DevOps tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code is a plus.
Retail technology consulting experience is considered a strong advantage.
