Spalding, a Saalex Company, is seeking a Software Engineer - AWS/Backend in Patuxent River, MD.
This position is full-time and offers a salary range of $90K-$155K, depending on experience.
The role is remote, allowing for flexible work arrangements.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience as a full-stack developer with a strong focus on backend/database development, preferably with Next.js and PostgreSQL.
The candidate will be responsible for rewriting a legacy application to modern web-based frameworks while ensuring seamless functionality and data integrity.
Essential functions include engineering IT solutions using AWS native services, reviewing existing legacy application code, providing software engineering using various frameworks and libraries, designing and maintaining custom APIs, utilizing GitLab for source control and CI/CD deployment, participating in internal code reviews, and performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Experience in software re-engineering efforts is required.
Proficiency in designing, implementing, and maintaining AWS-based solutions, including services such as AWS Lambda, Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL, Amazon S3, and Amazon Cognito, is required.
Strong proficiency in backend development using Next.js is required; PostgreSQL database experience is desired, while Oracle and/or SQL Server database experience may be considered.
Microservices experience is required.
A working knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD pipeline experience is required.
Experience with code vulnerability mitigation/remediation is required.
An AA/AS degree and 3 years of related experience or a high school diploma and 5 years of related experience is preferred.
Agile software development experience is highly desired.
Experience with the React framework and libraries is desired.
DoD application experience, including DISA STIGs, is a plus.
Experience in any of the following is desired: Amazon ECS, Amazon ELB, Amazon API Gateway, GitLab, C#, Visual Studio Code, JavaScript, React, Material UI, Amazon QuickSight, and/or CloudFormation.
Candidates must be eligible to obtain a Secret clearance, with an active Secret clearance being desired and interim Secret acceptable to start.
