The Software Engineer – Backend position is a remote opportunity based in the United States.
The role involves building backend systems that support web and mobile applications aimed at making nutritious food accessible and affordable.
Responsibilities include designing, building, and maintaining backend systems, collaborating with frontend developers to create robust APIs, and working with product managers to translate user needs into technical solutions.
The engineer will implement development best practices, monitor and optimize system performance, troubleshoot production issues, and evaluate emerging technologies.
The position requires 3+ years of backend development experience using JavaScript, TypeScript, or Node.js, along with strong knowledge of RESTful API design and implementation.
Proficiency with SQL databases and familiarity with NoSQL databases is necessary, as well as hands-on experience with AWS services.
Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and low-code platforms is a plus.
A BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field is required, along with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 3+ years of backend development experience using JavaScript, TypeScript, or Node.js.
A strong knowledge of RESTful API design and implementation is essential.
Proficiency with SQL databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL and familiarity with NoSQL databases like DynamoDB is required.
Hands-on experience with AWS services including Lambda, SQS, RDS, and EC2 is necessary.
Familiarity with Docker and containerized applications is expected; Kubernetes experience is a bonus.
An understanding of software engineering fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms is required.
Experience with low-code platforms like Retool is a plus.
Strong version control experience using Git is necessary.
A BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field is required.

The salary range for this position is $120,000 – $155,000 per year, plus equity.
