The Software Engineer I (Backend) will focus on backend development using PHP (Laravel) for the Payments team.
The role involves building, maintaining, and optimizing core payment processing services for Neon products.
Approximately 90% of the work will be backend, with occasional collaboration with the frontend team using VueJS.
The position is part of a Scrum team of 3-5 developers, a Scrum master, and a product owner, working in an agile environment with two-week sprints.
Responsibilities include writing and testing server-side code, maintaining libraries for compatibility and security, troubleshooting software issues, and collaborating with team members to refine requirements.
The engineer will participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and contribute to team culture through activities like hackathons.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 2+ years of recent, production-level experience developing backend systems with PHP (Laravel preferred).
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience is required.
Experience in building and maintaining CRUD APIs and working with production software is necessary.
Familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS or Microsoft Azure is preferred.
A solid understanding of relational databases like MySQL or PostgreSQL is essential.
The ability to work independently within 30 days, with strong support during onboarding, is required.
Candidates should demonstrate a collaborative, proactive approach in a remote environment.
Strong communication skills and a willingness to engage with the team, including video calls, are necessary.
