Remote Software Engineer II - Backend (Remote Eligible)

Description:

• Smartsheet is seeking a passionate Software Engineer II to join the Developer Productivity team.
• This role will directly impact the speed and quality of the software development lifecycle.
• Responsibilities include designing, building, and maintaining test frameworks, infrastructure, distributed testing solutions, and pipeline automation.
• The position involves modernizing legacy test code and infrastructure while working on a modern technology stack.
• The engineer will build scalable back-end services using Kotlin and Java for the next generation of applications.
• The role includes solving challenging distributed systems problems and working with modern cloud infrastructure such as AWS and Kubernetes.
• Participation in code reviews and architectural discussions with other software engineers and product managers is expected.
• The engineer will mentor junior engineers on code quality and industry best practices.
• A strong partnership with product management and other key business areas is essential.
• The role requires actively using AI tools to improve efficiency across coding, testing, design, and troubleshooting.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have 2+ years of software development experience building highly scalable and highly available applications.
• A minimum of 2+ years of programming experience with full stack technologies such as Java, Kotlin, or TypeScript is required.
• Candidates should have 2+ years of experience with cloud technologies like AWS or Azure.
• Experience in developing, documenting, and supporting REST APIs is necessary.
• At least 6 months of professional experience leveraging AI to improve personal productivity in building complex SaaS feature sets is required.
• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience is needed.
• Candidates must be legally eligible to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis.
