The role primarily involves working on the Quora product within a small engineering team that tackles challenging problems daily.

Responsibilities include owning backend databases and services, improving scalability, reliability, and efficiency of infrastructure systems, writing and reviewing code, planning and executing upgrades, developing documentation and capacity plans, debugging production issues, building monitoring tools, and sharing on-call rotation.
Core Infrastructure engineers are responsible for maintaining large-scale distributed systems that support Quora's operations, ensuring reliability, scalability, and efficiency.
Requirements:
Candidates must be available Mon-Fri from 3pm-9pm PST at minimum.
A B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field is required.
A minimum of 3 years of experience working on large-scale distributed systems is necessary.
Familiarity with data storage systems (e.g., MySQL, MyRocks, HBase, Memcached, Redis), traffic handling (e.g., DNS, CDN, load balancing), or infrastructure orchestration (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes) is required.
Excellent coding skills in any programming language (e.g., Python, C++) are essential.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills are necessary.
The ability to debug production issues independently is required.
