Remote Software Engineer- Recorder (Remote - US)

Description:

• The Software Engineer – Recorder will be responsible for building the next-generation audio and video editing platform.
• This role involves collaborating closely with designers, product managers, and fellow engineers to deliver innovative, high-quality media experiences on the web.
• The position requires solving complex technical challenges in real-time media processing, video streaming, and cross-browser compatibility.
• Responsibilities include implementing and maintaining web-based audio and video recording and editing functionality using modern web technologies.
• The engineer will collaborate with designers and product managers to translate Figma designs into high-quality React components.
• The role involves developing and optimizing frontend code with Redux, sagas, and media APIs to support cross-browser functionality.
• Enhancing platform performance and reliability for complex, large-scale web applications is a key accountability.
• The engineer will plan, ticket, and estimate projects while coordinating across multiple teams and stakeholders.
• Exploring emerging web standards and prototyping innovative media solutions is part of the job.
• Continuous improvement of code quality, testing practices, and user experience is expected.

Requirements:

• Proven experience building scalable web applications with React and frontend media technologies is required.
• A strong understanding of media APIs (MediaRecorder, WebRTC) and real-time audio/video processing is necessary.
• Experience with cross-browser compatibility and performance optimization is essential.
• The candidate must demonstrate the ability to plan, estimate, and execute projects in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams.
• A bias toward action with a focus on delivering value to users quickly and efficiently is important.
• Technical curiosity, creativity, and the ability to handle complex projects with confidence are required.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to quality through self-driven testing and automation are necessary.
• A background in audio/video production, DJing, or contributions to open source or personal creative tools projects is a nice to have.
