Mistral AI is seeking a talented and experienced software engineer to join their Engineering team.
The role involves working closely with research, product, solution, and program management teams to serve frontier models to customers.
Key responsibilities include model deployment, performance optimization, real-time streaming services, DX tools implementation, and cloud infrastructure management.
The engineer will also advocate for best practices in secure coding and architecture.
The position is based in Paris and reports to the Head of Engineering.
The role consists of 80% software engineering tasks, including ensuring fast and reliable launches of new models and features, system design and development, building and testing infrastructure, maintaining AI safety, and optimizing performance.
The remaining 20% focuses on security, including acting as a security advocate, designing secure systems, conducting code and architecture reviews, managing vulnerabilities, collaborating across teams, and writing secure code.
Requirements:
Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
Proven experience as a Software Engineer with a focus on backend or fullstack development is required.
Hands-on experience with security projects and integrating security considerations into software products is essential, or past experience as a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE).
Strong development skills in Python and a track record of building and maintaining secure systems are necessary.
Candidates should be able to review code and system architectures with a security-first mindset, identifying risks and proposing solutions.
Autonomy and a self-starter attitude are important traits for this role.
A proactive problem-solver with a continuous improvement mindset is preferred.
Ideally, candidates should have familiarity with industry standards for secure software development (e.g., OWASP, ISO 27001) and experience with vulnerability scanning tools and secure development lifecycle (SDLC) practices.
