Supabase Storage is a scalable and high-performance object storage service that is rapidly growing.
The role involves solving complex problems related to uploading, storing, processing, and delivering assets.
The engineer will work across the entire stack, including client libraries, CLI, CDN, the storage server, and deployment infrastructure.
Responsibilities include improving upload resilience in iOS applications, optimizing the S3 protocol for efficient retries, and accelerating upload processing.
The engineer will contribute to the open-source server and upstream dependencies like the TUS server.
The position is fully remote within the APAC region.
Key tasks include improving analytics bucket offerings, asset optimization for faster delivery, building an edge network, enhancing the performance and reliability of the storage server, collaborating with the frontend team on a storage explorer, and resolving escalated support issues.
Requirements:
A minimum of 5 years of backend engineering experience with significant production work in TypeScript and Node.js; prior experience with developer tools is a plus.
Solid knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
Familiarity with observability tools (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana) and performance tuning.
Direct experience in designing and operating large file upload/download pipelines at scale.
Deep knowledge of CDN integration and optimization.
Production-grade experience with PostgreSQL, including tuning and troubleshooting.
A proven track record of debugging incidents across distributed systems.
Comfortable working across the stack, including backend application development and some infrastructure work.
Experience with image and video processing tools and formats is a plus.
Familiarity with the frontend ecosystem (Next.js, React, etc.) is a plus.
An ownership mentality with the ability to drive projects end-to-end.
