At Summit, we are looking for a Solution Engineer to join our Solution Engineering Team.
This role involves working in a pre-sales capacity alongside our Sales Team to define and deliver our current portfolio to clients.
You will act as a trusted advisor, providing technical solutions throughout the deal cycle.
Responsibilities include gathering customer requirements, challenging assumptions, and translating them into best-practice solutions.
You will be the primary technical contact on assigned opportunities and will identify, qualify, design, develop, and present solutions based on business needs.
Crafting strategic and technical responses for presentations, proposals, and complex engagements is essential.
Building and leveraging key client relationships, including at the executive level, is crucial for winning business.
You will collaborate with finance to build cost-engineering and profitability models for large customer opportunities.
Staying current on industry standards and best practices related to our products and services is required.
Consulting with other Solution Engineers on complex technical issues is part of the role.
You will manage the opportunity pipeline with Sales to ensure timely technical pre-sales support.
Creating supporting documentation and tools to improve the sales process is also expected.
Requirements:
A minimum of 4 years of working experience is required, with at least 2 years in a technical role, ideally in B2B IT or IT consulting sales.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills are necessary, along with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Customer-facing sales experience is essential.
A professional qualification or degree in a technical discipline is required.
You must be able to create and deliver customer-facing presentations.
Experience with common tools such as Salesforce, Showpad, ERP, and Office is necessary.
At least 2 years of experience in ISP, Data Center, Managed Services, or related industries providing technical sales support is required, or experience at an AWS or Azure Cloud Service Provider.
Mastery of system administration on both Linux and Windows, as well as familiarity with Backup and Disaster Recovery solutions using hyperscale cloud services, is expected.
Working knowledge of virtualization technologies like VMware, Hyper-V, Xen, or KVM is required.
Industry certifications such as Linux+, RHCSA, RHCE, MCSE, MCSA, MCITP, CCNA, OpenStack, or Cloud Savvy are desirable.
