Remote Sr. Data Engineer

Description:

• Visa Technology & Operations LLC is seeking a Sr. Data Engineer in Foster City, CA.
• The role involves designing, developing, and implementing next-generation data platforms.
• Responsibilities include contributing to the design of backend databases and queries.
• The engineer will work independently to develop software that meets Visa’s high standards of security, quality, performance, resiliency, and compliance.
• The position requires designing, developing, and unit testing applications according to established standards.
• The engineer will create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture.
• Solutions will be developed to generate code for data pipelines using Python/Jinja code generation framework.
• The role includes assembling large, complex data sets that meet functional and nonfunctional business requirements.
• Building analytics tools that utilize the data automation pipeline to provide actionable insights is also a key responsibility.
• The engineer will analyze input data elements across multiple sources and build data lineage for the Asset Management System.
• The position involves working on emerging technologies to build highly scalable, secure, reliable, and fault-tolerant distributed systems.
• Participation in design and code review sessions is expected.
• The engineer will provide third-level support to business users and present technical solutions in business terms.
• Effective communication of status, issues, and risks in a precise and timely manner is required.
• The role includes finding opportunities for internal process improvements, automating manual processes, and optimizing data delivery.
• The position reports to the Foster City, California office and may allow for partial telecommuting.

Requirements:

• A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Data Science, Data Engineering, or a related field is required.
• Experience utilizing Python for data pipeline code generation is necessary.
• Proficiency in SQL for designing backend databases and queries is required.
• Experience with Unix scripting using Bash for designing and developing next-generation data platforms is essential.
• Familiarity with GIT and Visual Studio Code for version control, platform development, and code reviews is needed.
• Knowledge of Big Data Analytics for analyzing data assets managed by the Data Platform is required.
• Experience in software engineering code generation for data pipelines is necessary.
• Proficiency in using Airflow for scheduling and orchestrating data pipelines is required.
• The candidate should have experience designing and implementing algorithms based on complex logic flow with backpropagation.

• The estimated salary range for this position is $155,300.00 to $248,600.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments.
