  • Acorns is seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Senior Data Scientist with expertise in marketing science to enhance customer acquisition and retention.
  • The role involves leading the development and maintenance of Marketing Mix Models (MMM), designing incrementality tests, and optimizing cross-channel advertising spend to maximize ROI.
  • The position requires a strong command of algorithms and data techniques to model and optimize marketing investments across various channels.
  • The Senior Data Scientist will work remotely but has the option to access office space in Irvine, CA.
  • Responsibilities include developing a deep understanding of Acorns’ products and data infrastructure, enhancing existing MMM solutions, leading data science projects, conducting data investigations, and mentoring junior team members.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Operations Research, or a related field is required.
  • Candidates must have 5+ years of experience in marketing science, econometrics, or related analytical roles.
  • Hands-on experience in developing and implementing Marketing Mix Models and designing incrementality tests is essential.
  • A strong foundation in causal inference, econometrics, and experimental design is required.
  • Proficiency in Bayesian modeling, time series analysis, and machine learning techniques is necessary.
  • Familiarity with marketing analytics platforms and advertising ecosystems is expected.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, R, Java, Scala, Spark, or C is required.
  • Experience with Databricks or Jupyter Notebooks and version control systems like GitHub is necessary.
  • Candidates should be skilled at manipulating large datasets and generating meaningful features.
  • The ability to rigorously test data science solutions and complete end-to-end model development is required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and effective communication abilities are essential.
  • A deep empathy for customers’ financial lives and a passion for building personalized products is important.
  • A belief in the mission of Acorns and a hunger to deliver impactful products is necessary.
  • Bonus: Experience applying Media Mix Modeling within the financial services industry is preferred.
