Description:

  • Dispel Engineering is responsible for building and maintaining Dispel's products, working closely with Product, Operations, and Project management.
  • All engineering team members are expected to be honest, competent, and easy to work with, while effectively communicating plans and execution.

  • The primary focus of the role is on discovery, which includes handling ambiguous instructions, identifying missing requirements, creating technical documentation, balancing business and technical complexity, articulating design tradeoffs, translating business requests into actionable designs, and being comfortable with various software and cloud technology design patterns.
  • The secondary focus is on enabling others, which involves mentoring engineers, leading architecture reviews, balancing short-term needs with long-term vision, and providing technical leadership on challenging projects.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have several years of experience as a software engineer and at least a few years of experience as an architect, either full-time or hybrid.
  • A proven ability to design distributed systems, microservices, and APIs is required.
  • Experience with multi-tier architectures, service-oriented architecture (SOA), or event-driven systems is necessary.
  • Knowledge of scalability patterns, caching strategies, disaster recovery, and high-availability design is essential.
  • Candidates should have experience designing secure cloud environments, including IAM, VPC, encryption, and audit logging.
  • Familiarity with industry compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, IEC 62443, and FedRAMP is important.
  • A fast learner who values their work and can adapt quickly is preferred; degrees and certificates are not the primary focus.
  • Strong communication and team culture fit are crucial, as the team encourages collaboration and new ideas.
