  • The City of Fort Worth is hiring a Senior Professional Engineer to join a dynamic team responsible for Vision Zero implementation.
  • This role involves interacting with the public and developing innovative approaches to meet community safety needs.
  • The Planning/Engineering team addresses traffic safety concerns, coordinates field investigations and data collection, and recommends and implements infrastructure solutions.
  • The Sr. Professional Engineer will play a pivotal role in implementing the City’s Vision Zero Safety Action Plan, which includes 34 policy and program improvements and 10 infrastructure projects aimed at eliminating traffic fatalities and serious injuries.
  • Potential projects include the Vision Zero Safety Action Plan, Neighborhood Safety, Neighborhood Traffic Calming, Safe Routes to School, and ADA & Sidewalk initiatives.
  • The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, with some evening and weekend work required.
  • Remote or hybrid work may be considered after the initial probation period and is subject to department approval.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a related field is required.
  • Candidates must have three (3) years of increasingly responsible professional civil engineering experience, including two years in traffic safety studies or implementation of traffic safety countermeasures.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas is mandatory; if licensed in another state, candidates must obtain Texas registration within six months of employment.
  • A valid Driver's License is required.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience with the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, Highway Capacity Manual, AASHTO Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets, and National Association of City Transportation Officials Design Guidelines.
