Zapier is seeking a Sr. Backend Engineer for their Integration Platform Zone, which connects Zapier to external systems and focuses on AI-powered automation.
The role involves building, maintaining, and expanding integrations, particularly AI integrations, and managing the by Zapier tools that are essential to the Zapier workflow.
Responsibilities include creating and maintaining high-quality integrations, building infrastructure for AI-native workflows, ensuring integration health and quality, and powering initiatives like Zapier Copilot and new AI integrations.
The engineer will build APIs and backend systems, improve observability and reliability, and work cross-functionally with product, design, and data teams to deliver impactful features.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 5+ years of experience in building and maintaining backend systems in production.
Proficiency in Typescript or JavaScript and Python (Django preferred) is required.
Experience in building integrations, APIs, SDKs, or development platforms is necessary.
Familiarity with AI tools and experience in using or building AI products is essential.
Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Databricks, or Datadog is required.
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS) and CI/CD pipelines is necessary.
Some experience with event-based architectures and tools like Kafka or SQS is preferred.
Candidates should have some familiarity with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and performance tuning.
