This position is for a Sr. Software Engineer at Ambry Genetics, located in the United States, and is a remote role with a preference for PST hours.

As a senior engineer, you will take ownership of full-stack development projects, shape technical solutions, and contribute to architectural decisions.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, influence product direction, and build systems that positively impact patient outcomes and scientific discovery.
Key responsibilities include designing and developing scalable software solutions using PHP, MVC frameworks (preferably Symfony), and modern frontend technologies.
You will work closely with QA engineers, systems analysts, and stakeholders to deliver high-value features in agile sprints.
Participation in scrum ceremonies such as sprint planning, backlog grooming, and daily standups is expected.
You will review and provide constructive feedback on peer code submissions and implement feedback from your own reviews.
The role requires direct interaction with stakeholders to understand workflows, gather requirements, and propose enhancements.
Troubleshooting technical issues, monitoring logs, and contributing to system reliability and performance improvements are also part of the job.
Supporting ticket curation and technical documentation to ensure alignment across business and engineering teams is necessary.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent work experience is required.
A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with PHP development in professional settings is necessary, with 7+ years preferred.
Strong knowledge of MVC frameworks like Symfony (preferred) or Laravel is essential.
Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frontend frameworks such as ReactJS is required.
Proficiency in relational databases (e.g., MySQL) with the ability to write and optimize complex queries is needed.
Familiarity with NoSQL databases like MongoDB and structured data formats (JSON, XML, CSV) is important.
An understanding of RESTful APIs, web services, and Docker containerization is required.
The ability to interpret functional requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions is necessary.
Bonus points for experience in Java (Spring Boot), AWS cloud services, and regulatory environments (HIPAA, SOX) are preferred.

The position offers a competitive base salary ranging from $110,000 to $135,000 annually.
