Description:

  • The Sr. Software Engineer conducts high-level systems analysis and implements high-performing software solutions that are efficient and cost-effective, supporting Wellmark’s business and technology applications.
  • This role leads system development and guides the team in design, development, code testing, and debugging to ensure successful completion or resolution of issues while focusing on emerging technologies.
  • The engineer contributes to and drives the adoption of best practices, including development standards, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines across various platforms.
  • They lead and support a diverse development resourcing model, which includes Wellmark staff, global onshore/offshore staffing, and crowdsourcing.
  • The position involves building relationships with Wellmark leaders and acting as a consultant on business process improvements and technology enhancements or capabilities.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field of study, and at least 2 years of software development experience (e.g., Angular, NodeJS, TypeScript, C++, .NET, Java, SQL) OR 6 years of related and applicable experience is required.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills, accuracy, and high attention to detail are essential, along with previous experience troubleshooting and developing creative technical solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in software development lifecycle methodologies is necessary.
  • The candidate must be a big picture thinker with the ability to translate the value of the WaaS strategy to company strategy when making design and development decisions.
  • Strong ability to gather information, perform necessary research for root cause analysis, problem definition, and formulation, and recommend solution implementation is required.
  • The ability to build relationships to reach outcomes that gain support and acceptance from all parties is essential, along with effective communication skills tailored to the audience.
  • The candidate should be able to communicate with and coach/mentor team members while maintaining a positive attitude and taking responsibility for failures.
  • Thriving in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities, excellent organizational skills, and strong time management skills are necessary.
  • An eagerness to learn and stay current on industry trends with a continuous learning mindset is required.
  • The ability to collaborate and work as a team to accomplish goals and solve problems is essential, as is the ability to lead and support a diverse development team model.
