The Staff Engineer will join the Platform team, providing infrastructure, security, quality assurance, and shared services.
This role involves shaping architecture, solving systemic problems, and ensuring the platform is secure, scalable, and reliable.
The engineer's decisions will influence how every engineer at bunch works, ships, and maintains software.
The role contributes to building and evolving the technology that underpins all of bunch, aiming for meaningful impact at scale.
Responsibilities include designing platform architecture, leading cross-team initiatives, and defining architectural patterns.
The engineer will oversee AWS, Kubernetes infrastructure, CI/CD, and service reliability, while also driving the development of shared systems.
Collaboration with QA engineers to improve product quality through testing strategies and automation is essential.
The engineer will act as a trusted technical authority, mentor Senior Engineers, and translate security and compliance requirements into technical solutions.
Requirements:
A proven track record as a Staff Engineer (or equivalent) in infrastructure, security, and backend systems is required.
Expertise in AWS, Kubernetes, and designing high-availability, distributed services is necessary.
Strong backend development skills in TypeScript (Node.js) or other strongly typed languages; experience in Golang or Python is a plus.
A strong understanding of system design, observability, and performance tuning is essential.
Experience leading cross-team initiatives and driving architectural change at scale is required.
Excellent communication skills are necessary to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
