Description:

  • Postscript is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to lead their Data Engineering practice and advance their data architecture.
  • The role involves modernizing the data stack and building a lakehouse to facilitate broad data access for BI, Machine Learning, and Engineering teams.
  • Responsibilities include owning and evolving the data platform, delivering a v2 data architecture via a data lakehouse, building data ingestion pipelines, partnering with various teams for analytics use cases, supporting existing systems, and mentoring other engineers.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have 8+ years of experience as a Data Engineer working with the modern data stack.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience writing production-grade Python code is required.
  • Familiarity with the JVM and at least one JVM language (Java/Scala/Kotlin) is necessary.
  • A passion for data engineering and strong software engineering skills are essential.
  • Experience with modern datalakes using open table formats such as Iceberg, Hudi, or Delta Lake is required.
  • Candidates should have built and operated stream processing pipelines with Apache Flink and/or Spark.
  • Strong cloud architecture skills in the AWS ecosystem are needed.
  • Experience with a variety of database technologies and the ability to select the right technology for the job (Postgres/OLAP/NoSQL/etc.) is important.
  • Candidates should be seasoned in event-driven distributed systems.
  • A track record of success at remote mid/late-stage startups is preferred.
  • Strong communication and project management skills, along with the ability to build cross-team partnerships, are required.
