As a Staff Data Engineer, you will serve as a technical leader across the Engineering organization, shaping the future of Peerspace's data platform.
You will ensure the scalability, reliability, and capability of the data platform to meet the complex demands of a growing business.
Your responsibilities include setting technical direction, establishing best practices, and mentoring engineers on the data team and other product teams.
You will act as a force multiplier, improving data literacy and technical capabilities through architectural leadership and cross-functional influence.
Requirements:
You should have 8-12+ years of experience in data engineering or software engineering, with significant experience in technical leadership and architectural design for data-intensive systems.
You must possess authoritative expertise in designing and scaling large-scale data platforms on the cloud, preferably GCP/BigQuery.
Mastery of data modeling and transformation frameworks, such as DBT, is required, focusing on creating broadly usable and maintainable systems.
Deep architectural knowledge of data collection, event streaming (e.g., Segment), and ETL/ELT patterns at scale is essential.
Experience in evaluating, selecting, and integrating new data technologies to address major business and technical challenges is necessary.
You should demonstrate the ability to drive technical decisions across multiple teams, build consensus, and lead large-scale initiatives without direct authority.
A natural ability to collaborate with senior leaders in Product, Engineering, and Analytics to translate business needs into a long-term technical strategy is required.
You should have a portfolio of work that showcases your ability to solve ambiguous, complex problems that enhance engineering velocity and quality.
A strategic mindset to think beyond immediate requirements and build foundational systems supporting the company's long-term goals is essential.
