Collaborate with product, analytics, and operations teams while mentoring engineers and influencing data standards and best practices.
Lead the architectural strategy for data infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and alignment with business needs.
Own and evolve the long-term technical roadmap for the data platform while balancing short- and long-term priorities.
Act as a trusted design authority on storage formats, data processing frameworks, schema governance, and observability tools.
Guide initiatives across squads including automation, self-service tooling, data contracts, and governance frameworks.
Mentor engineers, provide technical leadership, and drive excellence through documentation, testing, and incident prevention.
Evaluate and implement emerging technologies to optimize platform performance, developer experience, and cost-efficiency.
Partner with stakeholders across analytics, clinical, and operational teams to align technical design with business goals.
Design and support tooling that empowers users to efficiently access, explore, and use governed data assets.
Track and report on KPIs measuring platform reliability, performance, and engineering maturity.
Participate in on-call rotations and contribute to platform resilience and recovery strategies.
Requirements:
8+ years of experience in data engineering with proven leadership in large-scale, cloud-based data platforms.
Expert-level knowledge of modern data stacks including AWS, EMR, Glue, Kafka, dbt, Iceberg, or similar technologies.
Strong understanding of lakehouse/medallion architectures, schema evolution, streaming ingestion, and batch orchestration.
Deep experience with observability, CI/CD, version control, and incident response in a data context.
History of influencing engineering standards and leading cross-squad technical efforts.
Excellent communication skills, capable of translating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Strong mentorship record and ability to guide engineering growth across multiple teams.
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Bonus: Experience working with healthcare data such as EMR or claims systems.

The competitive salary range is $170,000 to $185,000 annually, plus bonus and equity.
