The Staff Data Scientist will support Global Operations at Mozilla, focusing on improving operational efficiency, effectiveness, and scale.

Responsibilities include leading foundational reporting efforts, automating critical workflows, and identifying opportunities to reduce costs and improve performance across various operational areas such as Customer Experience, Trust & Safety, and Ad Operations.

Key tasks include developing reporting and metrics infrastructure, designing measurement frameworks, applying AI and automation tools, prototyping automation use cases, defining core operational metrics, partnering with teams to identify measurement needs, standardizing metrics and dashboards, and driving root cause analysis.
Requirements:
A BS or MS in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field is required.
The candidate must have 5+ years of experience in data science or analytics, specifically on operations-focused projects.
Hands-on experience with AI tooling and prototyping, particularly for process automation, is essential.
Familiarity with operational domains such as Customer Experience, Trust & Safety, or Ad Ops is necessary, along with an understanding of relevant metrics.
Strong proficiency in SQL and experience in building data pipelines and dashboards using tools like Looker is required.
Proficiency in Python or R for modeling, prototyping, and automation is needed.
Experience with metric standardization, KPI frameworks, and experimentation in operational settings is important.
The ability to work cross-functionally, communicate clearly, and prioritize speed over perfection is essential.
