Dailymotion is seeking a dynamic and motivated Database Engineer with a strong interest in site reliability and software production.
The role is part of the Platform team, responsible for the architecture, deployment, and operations of database systems across both cloud and on-premise environments.
The Staff Database Engineer will operate, optimize, and modernize MySQL database platforms across hybrid environments.
Responsibilities include driving high availability, reliability, and security of production databases through automated monitoring and proactive alerting.
The engineer will participate in the on-call program for application support and incident management.
Collaboration with backend developers is essential to optimize queries, indexes, and schema design.
The role involves planning and executing platform upgrades and automating recurring tasks such as maintenance and repairs.
Knowledge sharing through documentation and team training is expected, along with staying current with industry best practices.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 4+ years of professional experience on large-scale web platforms, ideally in an Agile environment.
Strong knowledge of administering MySQL, including performance tuning and troubleshooting complex database issues, is required.
Candidates should have experience with indexing, statistics, backup/recovery models, and operational automation through scripts.
Established experience in Cloud Computing and knowledge of modern database technologies from major cloud providers is necessary.
Understanding of Linux system administration and container orchestration, particularly Kubernetes, is required.
Proficiency in at least one programming language (ideally Python or Go) and familiarity with Git and common development tools is essential.
A strong interest in systems security and implementing best practices for system integrity and confidentiality is required.
Strong technical project management skills and communication abilities in both French and English are necessary.
