This position is for a Staff Engineer – Data Platform and Lakehouse at Curinos, located in the United States.
The role involves designing and leading the implementation of a cloud-native data platform that supports advanced analytics, AI, and machine learning applications.
The Staff Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and data scientists, to create scalable, secure, and high-performance data solutions.
Responsibilities include balancing strategic architectural leadership with hands-on engineering, optimizing distributed data systems, and supporting the development of next-generation AI and SaaS products.
The candidate will influence platform adoption, data governance, and automation standards to achieve high reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency across the data ecosystem.
Key accountabilities include designing, implementing, and maintaining data platforms on Databricks and AWS, providing architectural leadership, developing reusable data pipelines, and supporting AI/ML initiatives.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 15+ years of experience in software development, covering the full software development lifecycle from design to deployment and support.
Proven ability to design and implement cloud-native data architectures on Databricks and AWS is required; experience with Azure or GCP is a plus.
Deep expertise in Apache Spark, including performance tuning and distributed computing best practices, is necessary.
Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL, along with solid software engineering foundations, is required.
Hands-on experience with Databricks Unity Catalog, Feature Store, Delta Live Tables, and data pipeline orchestration tools is essential.
A strong understanding of ETL/ELT design, data quality validation, observability, and monitoring practices is needed, with experience in Monte Carlo preferred.
Experience supporting AI/ML workloads and SaaS product integrations is required.
Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with engineers, product managers, and data scientists are essential.
Knowledge of data governance, security, compliance, and metadata management best practices is necessary.
A strategic mindset with the ability to align technical decisions with business goals is required.
