Remote Staff Python Engineer – Open Source Video/Voice AI Library

Description:

• Stream is seeking a Staff Python Engineer to lead the development of an open-source video/voice AI Python library.
• The role involves architecting, building, and maintaining a powerful toolkit for developers integrating voice and video AI into their products.
• The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and engagement with the open-source community.
• The office locations are in Amsterdam or Boulder, with remote work preferred in EU/US time zones, and occasional travel for in-person collaboration is encouraged.
• Responsibilities include ensuring the library is well-documented, thoroughly tested, and easy for developers to adopt and extend, driving code quality through robust testing, and mentoring engineers.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have 5+ years of production-level Python software engineering experience, ideally in SDK development.
• Proven experience in building or maintaining open-source libraries or SDKs with strong community engagement is required.
• A deep understanding of Python ecosystem tools is necessary.
• A track record of leading technical projects and mentoring engineers is essential.
• Excellent communication skills and comfort collaborating across teams (product, design, ML, open-source contributors) are required.
• Preferred qualifications include experience with real-time processing systems, low-latency streaming, or WebRTC, contributions to voice/video open-source projects or AI model repositories, and experience with Go.
