The Staff Backend Engineer will join the Identity Graph team and lead the development of the next-generation Entity Resolution API.
This role involves working with large-scale data processing, real-time search infrastructure, and machine learning-based ranking systems.
Responsibilities include designing and building streaming and batch data pipelines for a low-latency Search Cluster (ElasticSearch/Vespa) and developing scalable, cloud-native APIs.
The engineer will collaborate with Data Science, Infrastructure, and Product teams to design scalable APIs, build robust pipelines, and ensure reliable, observable, and performant distributed systems.
Key tasks include leading architecture and development of high-performance APIs, implementing data pipelines, maintaining low-latency search APIs, and conducting performance tuning and debugging.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 8+ years of backend software engineering experience, with at least 1 year in a staff or principal-level role.
Expertise in search technologies like ElasticSearch or Vespa is required, including deployment, tuning, and query optimization.
Strong cloud-native experience, particularly with AWS services such as S3, SQS, Lambda, and Kafka, is necessary.
Proven ability to design, build, and maintain distributed systems that handle high-volume data streams and real-time requirements is essential.
Deep knowledge of Kubernetes-based application development and deployment is required.
Strong proficiency in one or more backend programming languages (Java, Scala, Go, Python, etc.) is necessary.
Experience in benchmarking and deploying machine learning models into production search pipelines is required.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills are essential.
Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL and Graph databases is necessary.
