This position is for a Staff Software Engineer specializing in blockchain at Zero Hash, located in Chicago, IL.
The role involves leading the design and development of scalable, secure, and distributed systems that power digital asset services.
The engineer will work with a modern stack of technologies and contribute to mission-critical services supporting fintech and crypto platforms globally.
Responsibilities include architecting and implementing backend features, particularly blockchain-focused services like staking-as-a-service.
The engineer will design and develop microservices using Golang within an event-driven architecture.
They will maintain a wide array of digital assets and collaborate with platform engineers to launch new services.
Participation in on-call rotations and proactive resolution of production issues is expected.
The engineer will serve as a subject matter expert for internal stakeholders and external technical teams.
They will translate business needs into scalable technical solutions with high standards of security and quality.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 8+ years of backend engineering experience, ideally in fintech or distributed systems.
Advanced proficiency in Golang is required; experience in Rust, Python, Elixir, C++, or Erlang is a plus.
A strong grasp of microservices, event-driven systems, and cryptographic protocols is necessary.
Experience deploying software across multi-region cloud infrastructures is required.
Solid testing practices and a strong understanding of secure software design are essential.
Proven leadership experience in translating business requirements into technical execution is needed.
Candidates must have the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Bonus points for experience with blockchain protocols, smart contracts, or open-source contributions in the crypto space.
