The Staff Software Engineer will join the Calendars Platform Team, responsible for core scheduling experiences across the product ecosystem.
The role involves delivering a reliable, secure, and performant infrastructure for time-critical operations, including availability computation and event syncing.
Responsibilities include owning architecture and scaling decisions, leading design initiatives, working with various technologies, driving observability and resilience, partnering with cross-functional teams, mentoring engineers, and participating in design reviews and on-call rotations.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 7+ years of backend engineering experience, including designing fault-tolerant systems and working on high-scale platforms.
Deep expertise in distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and asynchronous job processing is required.
Proven experience in optimizing availability, performance, and reliability in real-world systems under load is necessary.
Strong experience with relational and NoSQL data models, particularly with complex temporal data, is essential.
Familiarity with monitoring, SLOs, and root-cause analysis in production environments is expected.
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills are required.
A pragmatic, hands-on leader who balances long-term vision with iterative execution is preferred.
