The company is seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer to join its data platform team, focusing on data governance, security, and compliance.
The role involves driving strategy and technical implementation of SOX compliant data environments and developing scalable data governance practices.
Responsibilities include ensuring secure handling of personal information across data warehouse and machine learning platforms.
The engineer will establish enterprise-grade data governance frameworks, implement security controls for PII data, and build scalable patterns for managing permissions.
The position requires leading the development of core data governance infrastructure and frameworks for secure, compliant access to high-quality data assets.
The engineer will define the culture and expectations around data security and compliance practices.
The role is hybrid, requiring 3 days in the office and 2 days remote, based in New York, NY or Santa Monica, CA.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 8+ years of relevant software or data engineering development experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
A minimum of 3 years of experience with data governance, security, or compliance in enterprise environments is required.
Strong programming and analytical skills with expertise in Python, SQL, and infrastructure-as-code are necessary.
Experience with SOX compliance requirements and implementing technical controls for financial data is essential.
Candidates should have knowledge of data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA) and best practices for handling PII.
Experience with cloud-based data warehousing solutions such as Snowflake, DataBricks, BigQuery, or Redshift is required.
Familiarity with data pipeline management and orchestration tools such as Airflow, dbt, or similar is necessary.
Experience with identity and access management systems, role-based access controls, and security frameworks is required.
Candidates should have experience with data lineage and metadata management tools.
