The Confluent Fleet Management team is focused on developing scalable systems that efficiently manage the lifecycle of Confluent software within Confluent Cloud.
This role involves handling diverse cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, and Azure, ensuring seamless maintenance and recovery processes for customers.
The core mission is to provide a versatile platform capable of managing all Confluent software operating on Confluent Cloud, including both product applications and internal applications.
The position plays a crucial role in advancing Confluent’s Data in Motion initiative and contributes significantly to the growth and reliability of Confluent Cloud services.
Responsibilities include leading the technical vision and execution for the Fleet Management team, developing and maintaining mission-critical services with a 99.99% SLA, enhancing stability and performance, collaborating with engineering teams, solving complicated technical projects, mentoring team members, and evaluating the technology stack.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 10+ years of relevant software development experience.
Technical expertise in large-scale systems engineering or distributed systems is required.
A minimum of 5+ years of experience designing, building, and scaling distributed systems is necessary.
Experience running production services in the cloud is essential.
Strong knowledge of cloud-native technologies, including networking and security, is required.
Prior experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure, along with a deep understanding of cloud best practices, is needed.
Proven ability to influence the team, peers, and management through effective communication and collaboration is essential.
Demonstrated experience in leading and mentoring technical teams is required.
Candidates should have the ability to solve high leverage problems and drive solutions for unknown areas.
A BS Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience is required, with an advanced degree preferred.
