The role is for a Technical Lead / Staff Software Engineer to join the core Software team at Astronomer.
Responsibilities include guiding technical direction, leading architectural efforts, and ensuring high-quality, maintainable software delivery.
The position involves system design, cross-functional planning, process optimization, mentoring engineers, and supporting their growth.
The role focuses on distributed systems, cloud-native infrastructure, and data platform tooling, particularly in Kubernetes.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 8+ years of backend or infrastructure engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership role.
Strong communication and collaboration skills are required to work with cross-functional teams across time zones.
Experience in driving technical strategy and conversations with customers, gathering feedback, and influencing product direction is essential.
Extensive experience with cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is necessary.
Strong experience with Kubernetes, including hands-on experience testing systems running on K8s, is required.
Proficiency in Golang and/or Python, and comfort with distributed systems, container orchestration, and CI/CD is needed.
Candidates should have successfully led the design and execution of complex technical initiatives.
A deep care for team dynamics, process quality, and helping engineers grow is important.
The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, asynchronous, remote-first environment is essential.
A deep understanding of CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, CircleCI, and Jenkins is required.
Familiarity with logging and observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Fluent Bit, and the ELK stack is necessary.
A solid understanding of GitOps, Docker, and Helm charts is required.
Benefits:
The estimated salary for this role ranges from $200,000 - $230,000 based on leveling and geography, along with an equity component.
