Rula is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to join the Patient Experience Team, which is responsible for the end-to-end care journey for patients.
The team builds and maintains the patient portal, where patients manage scheduling, billing, communication with their care team, and tracking treatment plans.
The Staff Engineer will lead the design and development of high-impact, full-stack systems and define the team’s technical direction.
Collaboration with product and engineering partners is essential to guide architectural decisions and ensure systems are reliable, secure, and scalable.
The role includes mentoring engineers, influencing the technical roadmap, and shaping Rula’s broader engineering culture.
The work will have a direct and lasting impact on how people access and experience mental healthcare.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 8+ years of experience as a software engineer, building and maintaining scalable, production-ready systems.
Full-stack expertise with a frontend focus is required, including deep experience with React, state management, and performance optimization, as well as strong backend experience with TypeScript and Node.js.
Experience with microservices and/or event-based architectures is necessary.
Proven ability to lead complex technical projects across teams, owning the full development lifecycle, is essential.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills are required, with a demonstrated ability to align technical efforts to business goals.
Experience mentoring engineers, reviewing system architectures, and defining scalable design patterns is expected.
