Description:

  • Rula is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to join the Patient Experience Team, which is responsible for the end-to-end care journey for patients.
  • The team builds and maintains the patient portal, where patients manage scheduling, billing, communication with their care team, and tracking treatment plans.
  • The Staff Engineer will lead the design and development of high-impact, full-stack systems and define the team’s technical direction.
  • Collaboration with product and engineering partners is essential to guide architectural decisions and ensure systems are reliable, secure, and scalable.
  • The role includes mentoring engineers, influencing the technical roadmap, and shaping Rula’s broader engineering culture.
  • The work will have a direct and lasting impact on how people access and experience mental healthcare.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have 8+ years of experience as a software engineer, building and maintaining scalable, production-ready systems.
  • Full-stack expertise with a frontend focus is required, including deep experience with React, state management, and performance optimization, as well as strong backend experience with TypeScript and Node.js.
  • Experience with microservices and/or event-based architectures is necessary.
  • Proven ability to lead complex technical projects across teams, owning the full development lifecycle, is essential.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills are required, with a demonstrated ability to align technical efforts to business goals.
  • Experience mentoring engineers, reviewing system architectures, and defining scalable design patterns is expected.
