Kong is seeking a Staff Solutions Architect to join their Professional Services team, working remotely in Pacific Standard or Mountain Time.
The role involves leading and guiding customers through their technical journey with Kong, ensuring they maximize their investment in the products.
The Staff Solutions Architect will serve as a technical advisor to enterprise customers, consulting on architecture, implementation, deployment, and rollout phases of Kong technology.
This position is crucial for driving customer adoption, satisfaction, and retention.
The role requires collaboration with various peers and partners, as well as customer teams ranging from Developers to Executives, while representing Kong's culture and values.
Responsibilities include delivering customer-facing engagements and collaborating with cross-functional teams such as Product, Engineering, and Customer Success.

The Staff Solutions Architect will help define best practices for production deployments and provide thought leadership.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 8+ years of relevant experience in professional services/support or a customer-facing technical role.
Hands-on implementation experience with API gateways and/or API integrations in customer environments is required.
Experience in infrastructure build with virtual machines or containers using Kubernetes is necessary.
Knowledge of DevOps, security fundamentals, and networking fundamentals is essential.
Proficiency in Linux environments, including cloud and development tooling, is required.
Candidates should have Kubernetes proficiency and experience with major cloud providers such as GCP, AWS, and Azure.
Experience in application development is preferred.
Prior experience in the Open Source space and/or API Management or Middleware/SaaS software companies is beneficial.
Software development experience in programming languages such as Java, Python, or Lua is required.
A strong desire to tackle complex technical problems with minimal supervision is essential.
Excellent communication skills to explain complex technical issues and solutions concisely are a must.
A passion for technology and a team-oriented nature with a collaborative spirit are required.
Candidates should possess exceptional organizational and change management skills to manage competing client demands.
The ability to travel to customer and Kong locations as needed (post-COVID) is necessary.

Kong offers competitive compensation, with a typical base pay range for this role in the US being $134,800 - $160,000, plus variable compensation and equity.
