  • The Staff Solutions Engineer role is part of Kong's Sales organization, focusing on aligning with the Account Executive team to lead the technical sales cycle with new and existing customers.
  • This position supports enterprise and strategic accounts and is based in Sydney or Melbourne.
  • Responsibilities include supporting field sales in demonstrating the value of Kong's API Management & Connectivity solutions.
  • The role involves growing trusted client relationships throughout the sales lifecycle, from initial discovery and requirement gathering to product reviews, demos, and production.
  • The engineer will lead and manage Proof of Concepts (PoCs) throughout the evaluation process.
  • Collaboration with the Customer Success team is essential to enable new customers and establish revenue potential with existing customers.
  • The role also includes supporting and enabling partners to drive customer success and outcomes.
  • Coordination with support, product, and engineering teams is necessary to prioritize customer needs and ensure 100% satisfaction across assigned accounts.
  • Participation in creative lead-generating activities such as creating blog posts, leading webinars, and working on industry events is expected.
  • The position requires the ability to travel as needed.

Requirements:

  • Candidates should have 10 years or more of industry experience in software and technology.
  • A minimum of 5 years of pre-sales Solution Engineering or relevant experience at a SaaS, Open-source, or Enterprise Software company is required.
  • Proven experience with middleware, API management, integration, open-source technology, and Kubernetes is essential.
  • Foundational knowledge of API Management and integration, Cloud computing trends, and open-source business models is necessary.
  • Candidates must demonstrate a confident ability to present and lead discussions with C-level or Director-level executives, as well as Product Managers and Engineers.
  • Enthusiasm for working in a high-profile, fast-paced startup culture is important.
