Remote System Engineer

Description:

• The System Engineer will install and maintain all IBM mainframe Data Center equipment, including Hardware Configuration Data (HCD), Mainframe Disaster Recovery, IBM Z Series hardware, and the z/OS operating system.
• The role requires proficiency in COBOL, PL/I, Assembler, JCL (Job Control Language), DB2, and IMS DB.
• Candidates must have demonstrated hardware management experience with various products.
• The engineer will monitor production and development environments to ensure hardware is functioning as designed.
• Responsibilities include real-time break-fix of any hardware failures.
• The position involves working with mainframe hardware infrastructure such as z15/z16/HMC/DS8000/TS7700/TS4500/FlashSystems.
• The engineer will perform triage, diagnosis, and repair actions for all incidents.
• Knowledge of incident/change management tools, specifically ServiceNow and the IBM case submission process, is required.
• The role includes knowledge in hardware patch management installations and implementing microcode upgrades.
• A fluent understanding of system commands that support the hardware infrastructure environment is necessary.
• Familiarity with IBM z/OS (Mainframe) and z/VM (zLinux) is essential.
• Experience with ServiceNow incident, change management, CMDB, and Jira is required.
• The ability to script using Linux BASH, Python, and RESTful APIs is a plus.
