Future's mobile app products are a core source of revenue and projected growth, and this role is part of a significant investment focused on rolling out new apps for a broad range of brands.
As Tech Lead in Future's Apps Team, you will collaborate closely with the Technology & Engineering department and report to the Senior Director of Engineering.
Your primary goal will be to ensure the delivery of a scalable, well-structured, and efficient “multi-brand” app platform integrated with various internal and external services.
The job involves working on both green-field projects using the latest libraries and best practices, as well as maintaining and improving legacy systems.
You will be jointly responsible for scoping new system architectures, leading the development of software components, refactoring existing code, revising legacy architectures, and collaborating with other teams to build new services and products.
Requirements:
You must have a track record of building successful React Native apps for both iOS and Android, with excellent skills in TypeScript, Swift, and Kotlin/Java.
Experience in diverse app theming and functionality using technologies like Tamagui, with a strong focus on UX and accessibility, is required.
You should be experienced in deployment processes (App Store, TestFlight, Play Store, Expo) and CI/CD, along with DevOps and AWS experience.
Technical leadership and people management skills are essential, including experience running peer-reviewed teams using Git/GitFlow and mentoring on best practices.
You must have experience integrating APIs, databases (SQL, NoSQL, Graph, Vector), and working with event-driven architectures and asynchronous operations (queues, topics).
Knowledge of modern web development alongside mobile, with an understanding of accessibility and performance best practices, is necessary.
Practical experience using AI tools like Cursor, along with strategies to manage and validate AI output effectively, is preferred.

The expected salary range for this role is £60,000 - £70,000.
