Nexus Studios is seeking a Tech Lead for XR Rapid Prototyping, with a remote work option available from 10am to 7pm UK time.
This is a contract position lasting 5-6 months, starting in July 2025.
The role involves leading a creative prototyping team to develop immersive demos that support larger product development efforts.
The Tech Lead will be responsible for shaping the technical direction of the prototype team, ensuring results are fast, beautiful, and inventive.
The position requires close collaboration with the Technology Director and Creative teams, serving as both a technical lead and hands-on contributor.
The role is ideal for a creative technologist or engineering lead passionate about real-time visuals and fast prototyping.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 10+ years of professional software development experience, including 4+ years in senior/lead roles in XR, games, or creative technology environments.
Proven ability to manage small teams while contributing hands-on to technical delivery is essential.
Strong experience in real-time graphics programming, including GLSL or equivalent shader languages, is required.
Deep familiarity with Kotlin or similar languages for spatial computing and immersive interaction is necessary.
A creative and experimental mindset is important, with the ability to push visual boundaries while maintaining technical realism.
Experience with rapid iteration and shipping prototypes or MVPs under tight timelines is expected.
Strong communication skills, especially across cross-functional creative and technical teams, are required.
Comfort with evaluating and integrating new SDKs and platform features quickly is essential.
