This position is for a Voice AI Prompt Engineer, which is a rare opportunity to be the first engineer on a high-potential AI project in the healthcare space.
The role involves shaping not just a product but potentially a company, contributing to what could become a game-changing platform in healthtech.
The engineer will work directly with seasoned founders who have over a decade of experience in building and scaling profitable businesses in the healthcare industry.
The initial engagement is a 3-month contract to build the MVP, with the possibility of extending to 6 months and potentially evolving into a full-time leadership role as the product gains traction and funding.
Responsibilities include architecting and building an end-to-end Voice AI workflow, integrating telephony services like Twilio or Asterisk, setting up STT/TTS pipelines using various speech APIs, and using large language models to drive call logic.
The engineer will also implement fallback and human-in-the-loop workflows, develop robust backend services in Ruby (on Rails) or Python, and ensure HIPAA-compliant handling of call logs, transcripts, and metadata.
Collaboration with the founders will occur in an async-first team with weekly syncs.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 3+ years of voice/telephony development experience, specifically with Twilio or Asterisk.
Experience with speech APIs such as Google, AWS Transcribe Medical, or Azure is required.
Proficiency in large language model usage, prompt engineering, and API integration is necessary.
Candidates should have backend development experience in Ruby (on Rails) or Python, including REST/gRPC and database integrations.
Familiarity with human-in-the-loop systems and fallback logic is essential.
Excellent communication skills are required, including the ability to document, write clean code, and mentor others.
