  • Familiarity with WinRM, YAML, JSON, and Azure DevOps is essential, as well as experience using CI/CD pipelines and working within infrastructure-as-code environments.
  • The engineer will analyze and document existing manual operational procedures and tasks on Windows systems.
  • Responsibilities include designing, developing, and maintaining Ansible playbooks or Chef cookbooks to automate repetitive configuration and setup tasks.
  • The engineer will test automation scripts in development and staging environments to ensure accuracy and idempotency.
  • Collaboration with infrastructure, DevOps, and application teams to identify automation opportunities is expected.
  • The role involves maintaining and updating an inventory of automated tasks and related configurations.
  • Debugging issues in Windows automation tasks, such as PowerShell modules, WinRM, and file permissions, is also part of the job.
  • This is a 6-month contract position with the potential to extend.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • Candidates must have 3+ years of experience in infrastructure automation and configuration management.
  • Proven experience with orchestration tools such as Ansible or Chef, including scripting for Windows environments, is necessary.
  • A deep understanding of the Windows operating system, including PowerShell scripting, WinRM, and system internals, is essential.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language, preferably C#, along with working knowledge of YAML and JSON, is required.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, GitLab, or GitHub Actions is expected.
  • A strong understanding of Agile methodologies and participation in Agile ceremonies, such as standups and sprint planning, is necessary.
  • Proficiency with version control systems such as Git, including experience managing script repositories and branching strategies, is required.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot automation issues are essential.
  • Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • A passion for automation, continuous improvement, and delivering high-quality infrastructure solutions is required.
