Description:

  • We are looking for a skilled and innovative Digital Ink Handwriting Tech Engineer to join our mission of transforming modern education.
  • You will play a key role in developing next-generation handwriting algorithms that power digital writing experiences across educational tablets and eInk devices.
  • This position is remote and contractual for a duration of one year.

Requirements:

  • You will be responsible for designing and implementing advanced algorithms to enhance freeform handwriting on tablets and eInk surfaces, prioritizing low latency, accuracy, and responsiveness.
  • You must optimize digital ink systems for improved palm rejection, stylus pressure sensitivity, and realistic pen strokes.
  • Researching, testing, and iterating on new handwriting recognition techniques and tactile feedback features is essential.
  • You will collaborate closely with hardware engineers, product teams, and UI/UX designers to ensure cohesive integration between software and device hardware.
  • Debugging and resolving performance bottlenecks related to writing systems across platforms is a key responsibility.
  • Staying ahead of trends and innovations in handwriting tech and applying relevant advancements to the learning products is required.
  • A strong foundation in digital handwriting technologies, including knowledge of the software and algorithmic approaches used in modern writing interfaces, is necessary.
  • You should have 3–6 years of software engineering experience, ideally focused on digital input systems, graphics processing, or real-time interaction layers.
  • Proficiency in programming languages commonly used for low-latency graphics and algorithm development (e.g., C++, Python, or Swift) is required.
  • Familiarity with hardware-software interaction, particularly for stylus and touch-based interfaces, is essential.
  • Strong debugging, profiling, and optimization skills for performance-critical applications are necessary.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to work cross-functionally with product, design, and hardware teams are required.
