We are looking for a skilled and innovative Digital Ink Handwriting Tech Engineer to join our mission of transforming modern education.
You will play a key role in developing next-generation handwriting algorithms that power digital writing experiences across educational tablets and eInk devices.
This position is remote and contractual for a duration of one year.
Requirements:
You will be responsible for designing and implementing advanced algorithms to enhance freeform handwriting on tablets and eInk surfaces, prioritizing low latency, accuracy, and responsiveness.
You must optimize digital ink systems for improved palm rejection, stylus pressure sensitivity, and realistic pen strokes.
Researching, testing, and iterating on new handwriting recognition techniques and tactile feedback features is essential.
You will collaborate closely with hardware engineers, product teams, and UI/UX designers to ensure cohesive integration between software and device hardware.
Debugging and resolving performance bottlenecks related to writing systems across platforms is a key responsibility.
Staying ahead of trends and innovations in handwriting tech and applying relevant advancements to the learning products is required.
A strong foundation in digital handwriting technologies, including knowledge of the software and algorithmic approaches used in modern writing interfaces, is necessary.
You should have 3–6 years of software engineering experience, ideally focused on digital input systems, graphics processing, or real-time interaction layers.
Proficiency in programming languages commonly used for low-latency graphics and algorithm development (e.g., C++, Python, or Swift) is required.
Familiarity with hardware-software interaction, particularly for stylus and touch-based interfaces, is essential.
Strong debugging, profiling, and optimization skills for performance-critical applications are necessary.
A collaborative mindset and the ability to work cross-functionally with product, design, and hardware teams are required.
Benefits:
You will receive a best-in-class salary as we hire only the best and pay accordingly.
Proximity Talks will allow you to meet other designers, engineers, and product geeks, providing opportunities to learn from experts in the field.
You will have the chance to keep on learning with a world-class team, working with the best in the field, challenging yourself constantly, and learning something new every day.
