Remote Cloud Database Migration Engineer III (Oracle + MSSQL)

Description:

• The position requires at least 7 years of relevant experience in cloud database migration.
• The role involves creating, maintaining, and using Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for migration execution to ensure long-term technical viability and optimization of production deployments and administration.
• The engineer will engage, consult, and deliver based on interactive customer communications to streamline project deliverables and scope of work.
• Responsibilities include capacity planning to forecast future database growth based on usage trends and planning for hardware and storage requirements to ensure scalability and optimal performance.
• The engineer will plan, create, manage, and deploy effective High Availability and Disaster Recovery strategies and runbooks.
• The role includes patch management and upgrades, where the engineer will plan and execute database software upgrades, patches, and service packs.
• Troubleshooting and issue resolution are key responsibilities, including investigating and resolving complex database-related issues such as data corruption, performance problems, and connectivity challenges.
• The engineer will contribute to automation scripts and tools to streamline repetitive tasks, improve efficiency, and reduce the risk of human errors.
• Setting up monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and address potential database issues before they become critical is also required.
• The engineer will generate performance reports and analysis for stakeholders and management to provide insights into the database environment's health and performance.
• Maintaining up-to-date documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps is essential.
• The engineer will handle tickets to resolve incidents, changes, and service requests under the agreed client SLA.
• Problem management responsibilities include resolving problem tickets by creating detailed RCA reports.
• Understanding cloud basics and performing duties like security management, storage management, backup vaults, key vaults, and server/DB monitoring is necessary.
• Cost optimization through compute and workload analysis, license enhancements, and features is also part of the role.

Requirements:

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with a bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or a directly related field preferred.
• Candidates must have experience working in automation with Python, Shell, or PLSQL.
• The ability to deploy, manage, and troubleshoot High Availability and Disaster Recovery (HADR) configurations in Oracle technologies such as RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, Data Pump, ASM, and Golden Gate is required.
• Experience in troubleshooting performance issues and providing complete analysis to the development team is necessary.
• Hands-on experience in setting up standby using Oracle Data Guard and configuring DG broker is essential.
• Proficient skills in SQL Server architecture, installation and configuration, performance tuning, HADR, monitoring, and troubleshooting are required.
• Candidates must have experience in planning and executing database migrations and upgrades, including version compatibility, testing, and minimizing downtime.
• The ability to deploy, manage, and troubleshoot HADR configurations in SQL Server (Always On, FCI, Log Shipping, Replication) and MySQL or PostgreSQL (Master-Slave Replication, InnoDB Cluster Set) is necessary.
• Database specialty certifications in AWS or Azure and cloud associate/professional certifications are preferred.
