Description:
Timescale is seeking a Head of Developer Relations & Documentation to enhance its engagement with developers through content, community, advocacy, education, and open-source contributions.
This role is a player-coach position, leading a team of senior individual contributors including developer advocates, community builders, editors, and technical writers, while also contributing directly as a creator and engineer.
The Head of Developer Relations will collaborate closely with Product, Product Marketing, and Engineering teams to ensure alignment of developer-facing programs with the company's roadmap and go-to-market strategy.
Responsibilities include managing and coaching a team, contributing to Timescale's open-source projects, scaling developer community programs, overseeing technical content and education, leading documentation strategy, ensuring cross-functional alignment, executing high-impact individual contributions, and building frameworks to measure developer engagement and community health.
Requirements:
Candidates should have experience leading Developer Relations and/or Documentation teams at developer-first companies, particularly in infrastructure, open-source, tools, or platforms.
Experience managing senior individual contributors and leading with context is essential.
A strong background in building and contributing to open-source projects is required, along with the ability to lead DevRel in open-source environments.
Candidates must be strong cross-functional operators, collaborating effectively with Product Management, Product Marketing, and Engineering teams.
Experience in building and scaling developer community programs, both high-touch and low-touch, is necessary.
The ability to clearly and credibly explain complex technical concepts in writing and live demonstrations is required.
Familiarity with database systems, time-series data, real-time applications, or machine learning/AI infrastructure is preferred.
