Description:
Juniper Square is seeking a Lead Engineer (Data) to join their rapidly growing Data Engineering Team in India.
The role involves evolving existing data and reporting experiences by building pipelines to gather data from multiple sources for analysis.
Responsibilities include designing and implementing sophisticated data models in SQL and collaborating with Software Engineers for scalable implementation.
The Lead Engineer will act as a technical expert on the team regarding all data-related matters and introduce new technologies to enhance data pipeline capabilities.
Documentation of data models, architectural decisions, and data dictionaries is essential for collaboration and maintainability of analytics platforms.
The role includes governance, guidance, code reviews, and access controls to maintain consistency, quality, and confidentiality as analytics access scales.
Externally, the engineer will learn the application data schema to enhance customer decision-making with data.
Internally, the engineer will guide product and development teams on instrumentation and development foundations for product usage reporting.
The position requires fulfilling projects with minimal guidance while knowing when to collaborate with others.
The engineer will build scalable, high-performance infrastructure for delivering clear business insights from various raw data sources.
Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience is required.
Candidates must have 8+ years of experience building ETL or ELT pipelines from scratch.
A strong command of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, data modeling, and database design is necessary.
Proficiency in Python and experience in building production web applications using Python are required.
Experience with cloud-based services, preferably AWS RDS, is essential.
Candidates should have experience developing on or administering BI/data visualization platforms such as Looker, Tableau, PowerBI, Mode, Data Studio, Domo, or QlikView.
A basic understanding of data warehouses like Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, or Snowflake is needed.
A demonstrated history of translating data into clear and actionable narratives and communicating opportunities and challenges to stakeholders is required.
Flexibility and adaptability are crucial as the candidate will operate in a fast-paced startup environment.
